Okay summer is gone, where did it go? I suppose it was here but I have very fleeting memories of it. I did however get several opportunities to wear my favorite summer shawl and I want to keep wearing it so . . . I am going to make a winter version out of Drops Alpaca! I'm going to use my two favorite colors, yep, charcoal grey and beige; bet you're not surprised.

Even I, am amazed at how fast this Sweater knit up, dare I say it was "no sweat" . . . .sorry pitiful attempt  at humor. (it was about 80 degrees)

There is no fee to participate in the KAL's. Only requirement is the
purchase of the yarn at Yellow Dog.

I even had time last night to start the second KAL option. This is speeding right along also. It has a great method of doing the overlaping portion of the collar with out having to go back and sew anything down.

Find all the details here.

KAL will begin in September
Tuesday 1-3 KAL will begin Sept 20th
Thursday 6-8 KAL will begin Sept 22nd

Deadline to order yarn to get your color choices will be August 31st. That will give you some time to think about which one you want to choose - or do both!

Drops Alpaca Bouclé is a lovely soft yarn spun in alpaca. Bouclé is the French word for a loop and that's just what this yarn has; a lot of small loops in pure alpaca. The binding thread is a blend of wool and nylon which helps to give the yarn strength. The combination of alpaca and bouclé provides a super soft yarn. In garments, it is light and airy. Very well suited for accessories, elegant edges and details but also to larger garments.

I made the Twisted and Loving It wrap using two skeins. It was very lovely to knit with, you can maintain a loose gauge and still achieve a opaque fabric. This wrap feels like you are wearing air, yet it keeps you very warm. I would swear that there is absolutely no itch with this yarn. It would be so luxurious for a simple baby blanket but it would have to be handwashed.

I would probably not have tried knitting anything lacey with it but our math wizard knitter Laura decided to try it in a shawl with double yo's to accentuate the lace holes. Laura desgined this but I rarely get her to publish any of her works. I love the edging. Laura also overdyed this yarn in blackberry koolaid, the base color was beige.
