Hi Knitters!

Yellow Dog Knitting will be closed on Tues, Sept 14. I’ll be back Wednesday morning bright and early!! Tuesday is usually the day people come in for help because they got stuck over the weekend. Be patient, I’ll be ready for you on Wednesday.

Last week Deb & Cheryl were showing me their really easy hats that they were making. They inspired me to make my own version. I knit it up in a couple nights and showed my two snowboarding sons (21 & 16), expecting them to NOT like it. I was wrong they both loved it, Nick put it on and wore it the rest of the evening, in the morning I couldn’t find it – he had hidden it in his room.

Snowboarding Hat
Materials:
2 different colors of Vero (or any heavy worsted, long color print)
Size 13 needle

Holding 2 strands cast on 30 sts
Knit 2x 2 Rib for 20″ (or 1″ less than circumference of head)
Bind off
Seam cast on edge to bind off edge.
On one open end thread yarn around edge and cinch closed.

Note to all snowboarders: This hat is to be worn after you are done snowboarding and you have taken your helmet off!

Hi Knitters!

It’s almost SWEATER WEATHER!!

Here’s an idea to use the Vero that I got in last week.

It uses 2-3 skeins depending on how long you want it. Stop to YDK to get the free pattern.

I’ve had a great response from Knitting Teachers! The first sessions are scheduled. If these don’t fit your time frame keep and eye on these newsletters, there are more days and more teachers and variety of classes coming soon. Click on the link to the left to view the classes scheduled.

I just want to share one of my favorite technical knitting blogs…

This blogger is brilliant and she lives in Wisconsin. (not that I’m surprised!)
She has blogged about a better e-wrap cast on. I haven’t tried it yet but I am going to try it on the Iced Cardigan, when I have to do an e-wrap cast on under the arms.

I stumbled across this great tip on how to judge the yardage of a partial skein of yarn. It does involve a postage scale (which I have and you are welcome to stop in and use) and some math, but now you can judge if you have enough sock yarn left!!!!

…so I am adding another session – a daytime one – we will begin on Tues, Sept 21, 1-3 pm. Pre-orders for the yarn for this session must be in by Thurs, Aug 27th.

Tonight’s
Thursday Night Knitting is back at the shop!!! This has been a very hot, muggy summer, I’m not complaining but it’s not very conducive to knitting outside. We are moving back to the shop permanently! Starting tonight! Heads up also . . . next Thurs, Aug 12th we will not have knit night and the shop will not be open late. I’m going on a date with my hubby of 24 yrs. Our anniversary was actually Monday but we are extending the celebrating.

Hi Knitters!

September is only a month away. . . yea, I know right? We need a nice warm sweater to wrap up in but not too warm and just in time I’ve gotten several requests to do the Iced Cardigan as a KNITALONG. What a great fall sweater!! It’s knit top down so there’s no seaming! Yeah!(see arms spread wide in joy)
We will start on Thurs eve, Sept. 16th, 6-8 pm and meet every Thurs eve at the shop until the sweaters are done.

It’s Thursday and time for Knit Night in the Park but I won’t be able to make it tonight. If you go look for the knitters in the spot marked with the red star. There is some shade there!
